Have you ever wondered why a lot of rental properties seem to boast a neutral design and don't usually have feature walls with those beautiful floral designs you may or may not have thought were a fantastic idea back in 2012? There's a degree of psychology behind exactly that believe it or not! I'm sure agents nationwide (if not universally) will agree to say a blank canvas in most cases is the easiest to promote.
But why? The psychology of colour can be a fickle beast and can easily give off the wrong impression which in many instances, may not be all that bright of an idea. What we're saying is that it's a risk to implement a colour or style and potentially get people looking at your property in a negative light as opposed to them being able to see it from their own perspective.
Of course there are some positives to having a more decorated abode. The primary being that it is cost effective as it doesn't involve you having to go out and purchase neutral tones and then apply them. Not to mention it provides a more homely feeling. Keeping that in mind, have you ever visited a friend and had your senses assaulted by the decor? It's okay, you can admit it. We all have different tastes! The beauty of neutral is that it allows an individual the opportunity to envision themselves, their furniture and their lives in your property. Similarly how letting a property furnished can prove to be a lot of hassle with a lot of people wanting the utter basics (think white goods). So keep this in mind whether you’re thinking of selling or letting your property as it may be the difference in how long it takes!
